AI Scope Generation — From Photos to Line Items
AI Scope Generation turns the damage the AI found in your photos into a draft, line-item scope — a starting point you review, adjust, and confirm. The goal is simple: the estimate should start in the field, not hours later back at the office.
The AI assists. You decide. Every line it drafts is yours to keep, edit, or remove.
Where scope comes from
A generated scope is built from the findings already attached to your job — the damage the AI detected in your photos, plus anything you added by hand. Because the scope is generated from findings, capturing good evidence in the field is what makes the draft strong. (See AI Damage Detection — How Findings Work.)
Generating a scope
- Open the Estimate tab on a job that already has findings.
- Choose Generate Scope. The AI reviews the findings and drafts line items organized by area and coverage.
- Review the draft. Each line lands in your estimate as a starting point — nothing is submitted or final.
If you capture more evidence or want a fresh pass, you can regenerate the scope. Regenerating is designed to respect the edits you've already confirmed, so your work isn't overwritten silently — you'll be asked how to handle existing lines before anything changes.
Confirmed vs. inferred lines
Every line carries a status so you always know what came from you and what the AI proposed:
- Confirmed — a line you've reviewed and accepted.
- Inferred — a line the AI drafted that hasn't been reviewed yet.
AI-generated lines also carry a confidence level (high, medium, or low) to help you prioritize what to check first. Treat inferred, lower-confidence lines as the first place to spend your attention. (See The Pricing & Scope Confidence Indicator.)
What to do with the draft
- Keep the lines that match what you saw.
- Edit quantities, descriptions, and pricing where your judgment differs.
- Add items the photos couldn't show — concealed damage, access, or code-driven work.
- Remove anything that doesn't belong.
The draft is meant to save you the blank-page problem, not replace your review. When your file gets reviewed later, the scope should reflect your professional judgment — the AI just gave you a running start.
